The Rasmus Album Release Party @ The Circus

Lauri @ Album Release Gig

Lauri @ Album Release Gig

On 17.04.2012 The Rasmus had an Album Release Gig/Party at The Circus in Helsinki. The setlist of the gig was the same as the tracklisting of the album, in the right order. Although the fans have liked fully the gig, the band have told afterwards that there have been no song in which they wouldn’t have had some problems with the tech stuff. In the middle of It’s Your Night Aki broke his snare drums head, so the rest of the song went on without drums :lol: . During the first single, I’m a Mess, there was also some tech problem, because of which they had to start the song from the beginning just before the first chorus. Pictures can be found on different websites of radio stations that have been present at the gig: Radio Nova, YleX, The Voice. Video from the gig can be found on the website of IltaLehti, a video cut of 3 songs; and also we have recorded almost the whole gig [sorry about the quality though, but you get the idea of it], you can find them here.

Eero & Pauli @ YleX Uuden Musiikin Iltavuoro

Eero & Pauli @ YleX

Eero & Pauli @ YleX

Yesterday evening Eero and Pauli have been guests at YleX Uuden Musiikin Iltavuoro. The interview in audio can be found from here, and a summary of the interview below:

- they wanted to make before new album but the material they did sounded too electronic so Lauri made the album, and then afterwards they luckily got into the train camp where they made a more Rasmus-like music than the one that ended up on Lauri’s solo album; work with Desmond was a great experience and they have learned a lot from him, especially in making the lyrics, but Eero thinks that in their band is more important that they all 4 write and decide on everything for the new material; they would have liked to make everything themselves but did not really get with the tech part like mixing and such, that’s why they went to Martin to Stockholm; before touring was like partying until morning and jumping on the stage, which now changed to visiting also cities; Pauli tells that it rarely feels like a job when they leave to touring, but still they miss the families and it’s good to see everyone again after the tour ends; Eero tells reading a comment on YouTube on I’m a Mess that someone said they previously had dark music and now they are really happy ones.

Lauri and Aki have been today at Radio Nova to talk about the new stuff coming up, and also I’m a Mess had it’s radio premiere at this radio station. On this page you can listen to the interview and also the studio version of I’m a Mess.

Aki and Lauri will be tomorrow at Radio Aalto, Radio Rock and YleX for interviews and with I’m a Mess. Below you can find the summary of the Radio Nova interview.

-the new album has a do-it-yourself feeling, now that they have done it without any pressure;
-they haven’t been listening too much to the new songs yet and feels like a completely new stuff;
-Aki experienced during their break that some have asked him if the band have broke up or what happened with them.
-Lauri remembers when everytime they are in Latin-America it’s like a whole other feeling, having to walk around with security when already at the airport people are waiting, like leaving in peace from Helsinki-Vantaa and in there is crazy already after landing. Aki adds that they often just eat separately too because of this.
-album is more pop-rock, has nothing to do with his solo stuff and has no influences from it.
-Lauri tells when asked if they will ever will be in Eurovision, that probably not since he doesn’t like to compete in music.
-I’m a mess was born in the last moment before leaving for recordings, and as theme has nobody’s perfect.

Seems like the new infos and interviews are on way to promote the new material the guys will release during this spring. YleX posted an interview made with Lauri and Aki here. TRranslation can be found below.

Also Aki and Lauri will be guests at YleX Aamu on 23.01.2012 at 7.30AM [Finnish Time] to talk about the new material and upcoming The Rasmus plans.

YleX informed in october, that The Rasmus are in studio recording their new album. The album is now mixed and it will be released in spring.

A teaser of now the album will sound we will hear at the final of UMK, when The Rasmus’ long waited I’m a mess new single will have its worldwide premier.

-          We have a realy good song. I just told that it sound like an Eurovision song, putting the guitars on for sing. It will be a great evening, great atmosphere, Lauri smiles.

UMK Final will be streamed, so that all over the world will be possible to follow the premier of the song of The Rasmus on the Internet.

-          It is great  that it will be streamed. We anyways have a lot of fans, that are waiting for the new album and song, all over the world. It’s exciting, cause we will surely get a lot of feedback on it, Aki tells.

-          But as Lauri said, this our song sounds probably more like Eurovision than many others in the contest. I listened to all of the participants and there were all kind from schlager to rock, and our poprock fits in just perfect, Aki continues.

The Rasmus, however, have not yet planned on participating in the contest.

-          Maybe we participate sometimes later, Lauri commented.

The Rasmus will leave for a tour to promote the new album, but the plans are still very open.

-          We will do a release gig in Finland, and Finland-tour will surely be only in the autumn, it would also be great to play at some festivals during the summer, Aki tells.

Lauri Interview @ YleX Himotuimmat

Lauri @ YleX Himotuimmat

Lauri has been interviewed by YleX Himotuimat just about half an hour ago. You can find the audio interview here, and a summary of what he have said below.

-when asked what was the hardest moment in his life he replied jokingly ‘being born’ but then he added that also their career before 2000 when they had to thinks up how to work things out; since Black Roses his world has changed a lot, he has chilled more and when they were making BR there was a lot of pressure on them but it was a good experience, he learned that things have to be done by itself; it was great to play with sounds and do then lyrics; he told that solo songs are somewhat better than the TR ones and the band members took it good; he has been talking hours with Pauli on Skype discussing how and what to do on the album during the summer, and also been with Aki to the gym discussing stuff about the band project; he already has a lot of new ideas for a second solo album, but they will keep The Rasmus as pop/rock band; the feathers in his hair symbolize somehow the freedom in the world; for him it’s unbelievable that Heavy has been nr. 1 on the YleX Himotuimmat list because he has never expected anyone would like the sound; if he could be one animal he would be raccoon, but if it would be to choose for a bird it would be eagle; he would like to build himself a house and own a restaurant, make the menu himself; right now he likes very much sauna and hopes he can do it during the weekend.
