Lauri @ Maria Show

Lauri @ Maria Show

As you all know Lauri has been guest yesterday at Nelonen’s Maria Veitolan Show. You can find the video here for a week more, and here is uploaded on YouTube, thanks to Oana/PMMP&TheRasmus Forum. Sum up of the interview can be found below.

-at first even at EMMA he thought that his project is going the wrong way and break, he thought of it as being a quite dangerous challenge; when he was 30 he bought some ‘man shoes’ that were white but he has never used them so far, they are there waiting for the right day to be used; he was the one who always rebelled against electronic music around The Rasmus; he was the one to make a music video for The Rasmus with teddy suits but the rest of the guys didn’t really liked the idea; he didn’t got any wrinkles and he isn’t really worried about them just yet, but he thinks he is kind of tired baby looking; then they show them how they imagined him looking when he is old and he tells it’s looking like a japan sensei; he is now a superstar and will never get a general man again but he doesn’t even wish for it, and he’s not suffering at all of being a super star; he’s one of those few Finnish musicians who has made a lot of money only by music and he tells that it’s because he has been wise about organizing things, then he’s asked if he has a treasurer but he only asks ‘what is that?’; he’s never understood those who collected paintings and such but he’s slowly getting the feeling of it; he has quit smoking 2 years ago just for fun and thinks that things now look different from the way they did the touring like: party, drinking and such and wanted to break up with that.

Thanks to Oana/PMMP&TheRasmus Forum for sharing this short interview with Lauri made at EMMA Gaala by Voice TV.

In the video Lauri tells about the plans for summer with The Rasmus that we already know: they come in July to Finland to start training, now they talk every week on Skype; he thinks that the final version of the solo album is “fucking good” and doing everything by himself was good; when he is asked about what would he advice to the young Lauri if he would have the chance to meet him, he answers that he feels sorry that he couldn’t look around the cities they have been and that he was more like into night life than the daily one;

YleX Interview with Lauri about his performance

Here is an interview made with Lauri after his performance where he comments it and several other things.

Known from The Rasmus, Lauri Ylönen took off his solo career when performing for the first time to the audience his Heavy song.

-It was great to do it. I was excited before the gig more than at The Rasmus gigs, Lauri confesses.

Ylönen didn’t move that much around on the stage as we could have got used before to see.

-I decided to be more ‘calm’ this time. I was concentrating on the song, the man explains.

In the future we will see more anyways.

-At the upcoming gigs comes more versatile atmosphere. There will more jamming around, the musician promises.

Lauri rated Emma Gaala.

-This gala in question is important, where I had the chance to present, otherwise there are not many genres presented, Ylönen remembers.

If the man’s own spouse isn’t counted then Laur’s eyes turn on the side of the Swedish ‘queen’.

-Maja Ivarsson is the queen of the evening if we do not count Paula. I looked at her ass, or better said the suit, Ylönen joked.

-In a few years also Finnish chicks should get dressed in something like that. In my opinion I can even imagine Paula wearing such thing, the man says.

Solo album releaser Lauri Ylönen: I wanted to rest from the world!

Lauri and Paula @ Linnan Juhlat

Here is a new interview/article with Lauri from IltaSanomat. You can find the translation below.

Lauri Ylönen, who releases a solo album New World at the end of March, admits that superficial life doesn’t interest him anymore.

-During the last years I pretty much like wanted a little peace in my life. Already for a few years I wanted to end this superficial life style, he said.

-When I turned 30 something good happened to me. A new momentum came into my life.

In the lyrics of the frontman of The Rasmus there are such hard reflection topics like freedom of speech.

-I ’went’ much deeper than in the past. From these lyrics is missing the anxiety of the young man, Lauri adds.

Lauri belongs to the first class Finnish musicians, and he has found his peace of mind in own life.

-I look at the world with clearer eyes now, and also with a clearer mind. This was a very great winter from a lot of points. I can say that I am a quite happy man, Lauri admits.

-I like to walk on the ice in Jollas, where we live. It’s great both with the family and also alone. We also have a house in the city and we live in both of our homes, Lauri mentions when speaking about the living part of his family.

On Saturday Lauri performs at EMMA Gaala giving surprises from his solo album.

-I made this whole new kind of music, which in secret I have been a fan of. On the album can be found different types of machine-music, Lauri reveals.
-I’m a little tired of the rock attitude, which quite stiffed myself. Rock is not always as rebellious as it promises. To rock came some rules. It’s quite sissy, Lauri says.

Lauri thinks that the new songs are better than most of The Rasmus’ hits.

-Yes I think that these songs are better, Lauri thinks.

Lauri’s song already could be heard, live debut 26.02

There is an interview/article with Lauri in the new Soundi, of which a part of it you can read here. Below you can find the translation of the article linked. Thank you to Oana/PMMP&TheRasmus Forum for posting it.

The Rasmus’ world break success reached solist Lauri Ylönen’s first single ‘Heavy’ can be listened here. New World is released on 30.03.

-Solo work gave me a small band and home-like fresh feeling. I myself have designed the cover of the album, did the planning of the video and designed the stage scenery, almost everything. No one was there to give ideas. The Rasmus’ demo songs had to be sent to the record label for them to comment that from the lyrics you have to take off the word-pair ‘sick family’. Ahaa, why? Because it’s not a good thing. Now I give them a fucking sick family, figuratively meaning. I didn’t mean anything to be craze about, but some of these are just forbidden, and which by now became very much. And now starting to have enough of them, Lauri said to Soundi.

-It was me who rebelled so much around The Rasmus against machine-music. At least I remember my own opinion stuff about it. There was a lot of control thing to do from the behalf of the band. Like why for a guy had to invent for us out visual image, when we ourselves can design the whole thing.

Lauri Ylönen and his live-band will make a debut appearance at the EMMA Gaala on Saturday, 26th February.

-The live feeling idea came from Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre and Prodigy. Those black silhuettes start the gig and then they disappear. Screens and lasers come along too, even though the idea is that the stage stuff has to work just as good in a small club like Semifinali just at a festival like Ruisrock, Ylönen smileys.
